DURHAM – Duke graduate student
Hannah Miller recently was named to the USA Field Hockey U.S. Women's National Indoor Team. Miller represented the United States at the 2023 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup this past February.
Miller earns the honor to wear the red, white and blue following her best season as a Blue Devil. She led all Duke scorers with seven goals and 11 assists for 25 points en route to earning All-ACC and NFHCA All-South Region honors.
Her 11 overall assists and 0.61 per game average ranked second in the ACC and 17th nationally. A starter in every game of her career as a Blue Devil, Miller registered at least three points in five games this year and had a career-best six in a win at Longwood.
The native of Malvern, Pa., currently ranks tied for 21st on the Duke career list for points (69) and 24th in goals (25). She is one point away from becoming the 21st player in Duke field hockey history to amass 70 career points.
Miller, a mainstay in the national team system, also garnered an invite last December to train with the Women's National Team in Argentina before traveling to South Africa for the Indoor Hockey World Cup.
Of the 16 named, 14 athletes who were part of the team's impressive result at the 2023 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Pretoria, South Africa, where the young Indoor USWNT held the event finalist to one goal each (The Netherlands 3-2 and Austria 2-1), were also named to the roster.
The Senior squad will be coached by Kentwell and assisted by Katie Gerzabek. Gerzabek will also serve as head coach of the Development team. The head coach of the Junior squad is to be announced.
The program has the next year and half to prepare for the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cup, which will be held next March in Calgary, Canada, and look to once again qualify for the FIH Hockey Indoor World Cup.
Based on their results at the IHWC, the Indoor USWNT moved up four places in the FIH Indoor World Rankings and are now ranked 8th in the world.
Miller returns to Duke with her extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She is pursuing her Master of Management Studies degree from the Duke Fuqua School of Business.
