Duke Baseball A-Z Game Day Guide

Below are the accessibility services available at Jack Coombs Field. For assistance prior to game day, please contact the Duke Access and Accommodation Services at (919) 668-6213.

Accessible Parking: Accessible parking is available in the Whitford Lot (GPS address: 110 Whitford Drive). A valid ADA placard or license plate is required (limit one vehicle per placard). Parking opens two hours prior to first pitch.
Accessible Drop-Off & Pick-Up: An accessible drop-off and pick-up location is available in front of Jack Coombs Field. Vehicles should return to the Whitford Lot for parking.
Accessible Entrance: The main public entrance located directly behind home plate is accessible. Gates open 60 minutes prior to first pitch unless otherwise noted.
Accessible Restrooms: Accessible men’s and women’s restrooms are located beneath the covered grandstand. A gender-neutral accessible family restroom is available upon request.
Accessible Seating: Accessible seating is available along the front tables of the grandstands on a first-come, first-served basis. Companion seating is available in the same area.
Wheelchairs & Assistive Devices: Wheelchairs and assistive devices are permitted and must not obstruct aisles or walkways.
Emergency & Severe Weather Assistance: Duke Game Operations staff will assist guests with disabilities during emergencies or evacuations.

Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase to guests age 21 and older at all concessions locations throughout Jack Coombs Field. Alcohol sales conclude at the end of the sixth inning.

Alcohol Policy

A valid, government-issued photo ID is required to purchase or consume alcohol.
A maximum of two (2) alcoholic beverages per ID per transaction is permitted.
Alcoholic beverages may not leave Jack Coombs Field.
Underage drinking is prohibited, and guests may not purchase or provide alcohol to anyone under age 21.

Event staff reserve the right to limit or refuse alcohol sales to any guest at any time. Guests who violate alcohol policies may be subject to ejection and further action by Duke University Police.

Designated Driver Program

Guests age 21 and older who plan to provide safe, sober transportation for their group are encouraged to sign the Designated Driver Pledge at the marketing table through the end of the third inning. Participants will receive a complimentary concessions voucher, while supplies last.

Duke Athletics follows a consistent animal policy across all venues, including Jack Coombs Field:

Service Animals: Trained service animals are welcome at Smith Family Stadium. A service animal is a dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks for individuals with disabilities. Service animals must be under control at all times and leashed or tethered unless doing so interferes with the task the animal is trained to perform. Service animals must not display aggressive behavior, bark, growl or disrupt the environment unless trained to do so for a specific task. Current rabies vaccination tags or proof of vaccination must be provided upon request. Any violation of these guidelines may result in the service animal being excluded from the facility.
Service Animals in Training: In North Carolina, service animals in training have the same access rights as trained service animals. Service animals in training must wear identifiable gear such as a collar, leash, harness, or cape and have current rabies vaccination tags or proof of vaccination available upon request. The handler or trainer is responsible for any damage caused by the animal. Animals must be housebroken and adhere to the same behavioral guidelines as trained service animals. Violations will result in the service animal in training being excluded from the facility.
Personal Pets & Emotional Support Animals: Emotional support animals, therapy animals and companion animals are not considered service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are not permitted.

An ATM is located next to the Johnson Family Team Store at the Scott Family Athletics Performance Center. The ATM dispenses cash only.

Purses, small bags, strollers and backpacks are permitted. Duffel bags and large bags greater than 14” x 14” x 8” are not permitted. Reasonable exceptions may be made for medical or childcare needs.

All bags and personal items are subject to search upon entry. Duke University reserves the right to deny any item or individual from entering the venue. There is no area available to check or store prohibited items.

For the safety of all guests, bags or items may not be left unattended outside the venue. Unattended items will be handled in a manner deemed appropriate by venue officials, which may include disposal. Duke University and Duke Athletics are not responsible for lost or unattended items.

Banners and signs are permitted. Duke University reserves the right to prohibit or require the removal of any banner or sign that obstructs the view of other guests, obscures stadium signage, may be considered an advertisement, or is determined to be obscene, vulgar, indecent, inappropriate or derogatory.

Hand-held still cameras are permitted for personal use only. Cameras with lenses longer than four inches are not permitted. Video cameras may be used during warm-ups and between innings but are prohibited from filming live game action.

In case of an emergency, contact the nearest Duke Athletics staff member or call Duke Police at (919) 684-2444. Durham Police should be contacted by dialing 911 for off-campus emergencies.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you observe any unusual, suspicious or concerning activity, report it immediately to the nearest law enforcement officer or event staff member.

Emergency Vehicles

Emergency vehicles may be present in and around the venue. Do not block fire lanes, exits or emergency access routes. Any vehicles or objects obstructing these areas will be removed. Vehicles are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

Severe Weather

As an outdoor venue, Jack Coombs Field is subject to weather conditions. Duke Game Operations will monitor weather throughout the event. In the event of severe weather, guests should follow all PA announcements and instructions from Duke Athletics staff.

Accessibility Assistance

Duke Athletics staff will assist guests with disabilities during an emergency or evacuation upon request. Guests are encouraged to familiarize themselves with accessible exits upon arrival.

Guests should identify the nearest exit and an alternate exit upon arrival and pre-determine a meeting location inside and outside the venue in the event of separation.

All gates open one hour prior to the scheduled start of the game. Guests may leave and re-enter at any time with a valid ticket plus re-entry stamp, subject to game day policies and security procedures upon re-entry.

Outside food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, are not permitted inside the venue. Exceptions may be made for medical or childcare needs. Guests are encouraged to dispose of trash and recycling in the appropriate receptacles.

Concessions operated by Proof of the Pudding are available. Concession stands are located on the third-base side of the stadium and in the outfield under the batter's eye.

Concessions purchases are cashless. Credit and debit cards are accepted.

Guests attending events at Jack Coombs Field assume all risks associated with watching a live sporting event, including the possibility of being struck by bats, balls or other objects entering the seating or standing areas.

Protective netting is installed behind home plate. Guests seated in areas without protective netting, including lawn seating areas, should remain alert at all times to on-field activity.

Duke University and Duke Athletics are not responsible for injuries or damages resulting from objects leaving the field of play. Guests are encouraged to use caution and remain attentive throughout the event.

Duke Athletics expects all guests to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times before, during and after the game. Guests are expected to treat other guests, student-athletes, coaches, officials and staff with courtesy and respect.

To help ensure a safe, family-friendly environment, guests are expected to refrain from the following behaviors:

Interfering with another guest’s ability to enjoy the event
Using or displaying foul, abusive or threatening language or gestures
Appearing intoxicated or in a diminished capacity
Entering the playing field or restricted access areas
Throwing objects onto the field or within the venue
Engaging in disorderly or disruptive behavior

Guests who observe behavior that does not meet these expectations should contact the nearest Duke Athletics staff member for assistance. Violators are subject to removal from the facility and possible arrest.

Duke Game Operations actively monitors weather conditions before and during all events at Jack Coombs Field.

Severe Weather Monitoring: Stadium evacuation will occur if a storm is projected to come within an eight-mile radius of Jack Coombs Field.
Evacuation Procedure: If evacuation is required, the public address announcer will notify all guests. Fans should exit the stadium promptly and follow instructions from event staff.
During a Weather Delay: The safest location during severe weather is a hard-topped vehicle with the windows closed. Guests without access to a vehicle will be directed by event staff to a designated safe location.
Resumption of Play: The stadium will remain closed until the storm has cleared an eight-mile radius and conditions are deemed safe. Play will resume only after an all-clear has been issued and following consultation between the umpires and Duke Game Operations.
Heat Management: If temperatures exceed 85 degrees on game day, a heat management station will be set up beside the third base dugout. The station will include a misting fan, cups and ice water.

Game status updates, including delays and resumption of play, will be communicated via the public address system and Duke baseball’s official social media accounts.

If an item is lost or found, please report it to the nearest Duke Athletics staff member or the game manager.

Items turned in during the event will be handled by Duke Athletics Game Operations. Items not claimed by the end of the game will be available for pickup the next business day.

Unclaimed items will be retained for 30 days following the event. After this period, any remaining items will be discarded.

Access to the press box, media areas and scorer’s table at Smith Family Stadium is restricted to approved personnel only.

Media members, photographers and videographers must contact Duke Athletics Communications at least two days prior to the event to request credentials or reserve workspace.

Media credentials must be visible at all times while inside restricted areas. Unauthorized access to media-only spaces is prohibited.

The Johnson Family Team Store is located in the Scott Family Athletics Performance Center, adjacent to Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Complimentary parking is available for Duke Baseball home games in designated campus lots. Availability may change if a baseball game coincides with another campus event.

General Public Parking: Free general public parking is available in the Science Drive Garage. Limited pay-to-park spaces are available in Science Drive Visitors.
Accessible Parking & Drop-Off: Accessible parking is available in the Whitford Lot (GPS Address: 110 Whitford Drive, Durham, NC) with a valid ADA placard or license plate. An accessible drop-off and pick-up location is available in front of Jack Coombs Field. Vehicles should return to the Whitford Lot for parking after drop-off.
Overlapping Events: If overlapping athletic events occur, alternate parking locations may be required. Updates will be communicated via Parking & Traffic Alerts at www.goduke.com/gameday prior to game day.
Tailgating: Tailgating is permitted in the grass area in front of the Science Drive Garage. Tailgating is not permitted inside the garage. To discuss tailgating options, call (919) 668-5728 or email hospitality@duaa.duke.edu.
Directions: Fans are encouraged to use GPS and enter “Jack Coombs Field” or the Whitford Lot address when traveling to campus. Please allow additional time for arrival, especially during high-traffic weekends.

Duke University assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to vehicles or their contents. Vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk. Guests are encouraged to lock their vehicles.

For the safety and game day experience of all guests, the following policies apply at Jack Coombs Field. All bags and personal items are subject to search upon entry. Duke University reserves the right to deny anyone or anything from entering the stadium.

Items denied at entry must be returned to your vehicle or discarded. There is no storage available at the stadium. Bags or personal items may not be left unattended outside of Jack Coombs Field. Unattended items may be removed and discarded. Duke University and Duke Athletics are not responsible for loss of unattended items.

Restroom facilities are conveniently located throughout Jack Coombs Field.

Restroom Trailers: Three gender-neutral restroom trailers are available inside the stadium. Two are located behind the third base dugout and one is positioned behind the batter’s eye in the outfield for guests utilizing hospitality spaces.
Permanent Restrooms: Permanent men’s and women’s restrooms are located on the lower level beneath the covered grandstand seating area. Access doors are located directly behind the seating area, and both restrooms are accessible for guests with disabilities.
Family Restroom: A gender-neutral, accessible family restroom is available. Guests may speak with an event staff member, who will contact Duke Game Operations for assistance.

Scouts must present a valid scout card for entry. Access is permitted beginning 60 minutes prior to first pitch.

All games at Jack Coombs Field are ticketed events. The ticket booth opens 60 minutes prior to first pitch.

Duke University is a tobacco-free campus. The use of all tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, is prohibited.
