Completed in 1996, Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium was primarily built for the Duke field hockey program. Thanks in large part to the contributions of Morris and Ruth Williams, the Duke facility features one of the best watering systems in the country as well as a state-of-the-art sound system and scoreboard. The generosity of Jack Katz also made possible the expansion of the stadium's bleachers, the press box, and the brick entranceway.
Most recently, Duke both dedicated the Jim Sabiston Field House and installed state-of-the-art blue turf, Tokyo GT, in the summer of 2022. The Jim Sabiston Field House added 1,088 square feet onto the back of the already existing building and houses Duke’s locker room, kitchen, team room, and conference room. Duke is the first location in the United States to use the Tokyo GT surface, which was first introduced in the Tokyo Olympics, and has countless benefits including increased sustainability.
The site of the 2022 ACC Field Hockey Championship, Jack Katz Stadium is surrounded by Duke's East Campus, providing the Blue Devils with a private practice facility. In addition, a state-of-the-art LED lighting system, installed in 2014, gives Duke the ability to host night games. The field was also the site of the 2002, 2008, and 2014 conference tournaments.
