DURHAM, N.C. – A day after garnering ACC Player of the Week honors, Duke University women's basketball senior
Leaonna Odom was selected the United States Basketball Association (USBWA) Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week Tuesday.
Odom helped lead Duke to victories at Syracuse and at home against Georgia Tech this past week as the Blue Devils have won four out of the last five contests. Riding a two-game winning streak, Duke (11-9, 5-4 ACC) will next host seventh-ranked NC State Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.
Odom averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals this past week, while hitting 76.0 percent of her field goals in the two contests. A native of Lompoc, Calif., Odom currently ranks third in the ACC with a 56.7 field goal percentage in league games.
At Syracuse, Odom collected 23 points and 10 rebounds, while hitting 11-of-14 field goals in 35 minutes. She added three assists and two steals. She now owns three double-doubles on the season and 13 over her career.
Odom drained 8-of-11 field goals to close the week at home against Georgia Tech and collected 16 points. She chipped in six rebounds, three steals and two assists in 38 minutes.
In the ACC overall stats, Odom currently ranks 13th in scoring (14.1), fourth in field goal percentage (54.8) and sixth in steals (2.1).
Odom has been on a tear over the last three games averaging 19.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.7 assists.
