DURHAM, N.C. - Hilary Linton of the Duke field hockey team has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week by the Duke Radio Network.
A senior midfielder from Canada, Linton scored her first goal of the season last weekend in dramatic fashion. Four minutes into overtime, she netted the game-winning goal as the Blue Devils edged Iowa 3-2 in a battle of nationally-ranked teams at Iowa City.
The victory enabled Duke to remain undefeated this season at 4-0. This Saturday, the fourth-ranked Blue Devils meet second-ranked Wake Forest in the ACC opener.
Linton was a first team All-America selection last year and an All-ACC pick the last two years for Duke's NCAA runnerup teams. She is a member of the Canadian National Team and serves as one of the Blue Devils' captains this year.
