Alaina McVeigh and
Madison Beach are off to a strong start for the U-21 U.S. Women's National Team, helping sixth-ranked United States to a 5-2 victory over 13th-ranked New Zealand in the opening game of the 2025 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup.
McVeigh and Beach both earned starting nods for the Junior Eagles with McVeigh scoring two of the team's first three goals to earn the Player of the Match honor. Scoring both of her goals in the run of play, McVeigh put the U.S., up 1-0 in the 17th minute with a low angle shot. She made it 3-0 in the 31st minute, beating the New Zealand goalie one-on-one after a pass from Reese D'Ariano.
