SANTIAGO, Chile – The Duke field hockey trio of
Madison Beach, Abigail Gerdeman and
Shae Wozniak are headed to the semifinals at the 2026 Junior Pan American Cup following a strong showing in pool play.
The Blue Devils helped the United States go 3-0-2 in Pool A action with setbacks to Argentina and host Chile. In the three wins, the Junior Eagles outscored their opponents 23-0. The lone goals allowed by the U.S. came in the two losses.
Beach led the way among the Blue Devils with a pair of goals, while both Wozniak and Gerdeman had one. Reese D'Ariano is the squad's top scorer with 11 markers. Beach and Reese Anetsberger are the only other athletes to have multiple scores.
The United States faces Uruguay in the semifinal, Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. The U.S. defeated Uruguay 5-0 Tuesday evening with Gerdeman providing the final goal.
Gerdeman and Wozniak both earned their first caps at the Junior Pan American Cup, while Beach has now logged 16 with USA field hockey in international competition.
The winner between Uruguay and United States will face either Argentina or Chile in the gold medal game April 18 at 7:15 p.m. The United States lost to Argentina, 5-0, and Chile by a narrow 2-1 score in pool action.
Beach returns to Duke for her junior season, while Wozniak is back after a stellar freshman campaign. Gerdeman officially joins the Duke True family in August as a freshman Blue Devil.
