NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Junior
RJ Schreck continued a strong start to the season going 3-for-4, but Duke was unable to overcome a five-run fifth inning by Notre Dame and fell to the Fighting Irish 6-2 on Saturday at Frank Eck Stadium in Notre Dame, Ind.

Schreck led the Blue Devils offensively as he went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Schreck recorded three of Duke's five hits. Senior
Chris Crabtree recorded a double in his first plate appearance on the day, his fourth of the season.

Sophomore
Henry Williams started on the bump for Duke, allowing four runs, all earned, on five hits and one walk. The Darien, Conn., native also added two strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work.

Notre Dame (9-2, 9-2 ACC) got on the board first, scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning. Duke (7-8, 3-5 ACC) responded with two runs in the top of the sixth inning as Schreck hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot that also scored graduate
Peter Matt. The Fighting Irish scored five in the bottom of the frame to take a 6-2 lead that Duke was unable to overcome.

Senior
Josh Nifong enjoyed a strong showing in relief, facing six batters in 2.0 innings pitched. A native of High Point, N.C., Nifong struck out three and allowed just one hit and no runs throughout his time on the hill.

Duke and Notre Dame face off on Sunday for the final game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ACC Network. Chris Edwards will also broadcast the game on the radio via TuneIn and GoDuke.com.
