GoDuke.com and @DukeMGOLF will run a series of features on the favorite holes for each member of the Duke men's golf team. The players and coaches were asked to pick the three favorite holes they've ever played and provide a scouting report on how best to attack them. Be sure to check @DukeMGOLF on Twitter on Instagram each Thursday to cast your vote on each of our players' dream holes!

Head coach
Jamie Green wraps up our Dream Course series as he describes three of his favorite holes in golf. Green begins with the par-4 13th at Pacific Dunes at the beautiful Bandon Dunes resort in Oregon. Next, he tackles the par-3 12th at Waterville Golf Links in Ireland before coming home with the 18th hole at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla.
Green's #1 Favorite Hole: 13th hole at Pacific Dunes (Bandon, Ore.) – 444 yards – Par 4

In Green's words: "Get your camera/phone ready when walking onto the tee of this one. The hole is masterfully framed — on the right with a huge wall of sand dunes and on the left by the shore of the Pacific Ocean. Before sending your tee shot, take comfort in knowing the fairway is plenty wide enough. That said, the wind may be whipping from any direction (though usually from into...if it happens to be more off of the left you'll want to "take the dare" and start your shot along the cliff, in order to play the "breeze" let it help your ball find the fairway. The green is much more long than it is wide, making the approach challenging when there's no wind. The cliff leading to the Pacific comes right up to left edge of the green and right of the green is guarded by a deep bunker — all the while, a false front to the green forces you to play your shot high enough to carry well past the front edge. Unless you were lucky enough to play the hole downwind, your target into the green ought to favor the right side to account for the length of the approach. If you find the green, get the heck out of there in two putts or less. If you happen to need a sand save, trust your skill and you'll get the job done. This green isn't as severe as others on the property.
Green's #2 Favorite Hole: 12th hole at Waterville Golf Links (Kerry, Ireland) -- 200 yards -- Par 3
In Green's words:Â "The tee is perched on one of the highest sand dunes on the property, giving you an incredible view ... naturally-carved valleys between dunes everywhere on this true links layout - with the Atlantic Ocean on the right.
The shot of 200 yards could face any amount of wind and from any direction, depending on the moment. So, club and target selection will take imagination and proper deduction. Yet, pulling off a shot that lands and stays on the green requires pure skill. The green isn't overly deep, and is surrounded on the left/back/right with hills covered in heather and gorse...while the green is fronted with a steep slope (so you can't bounce one on). After the tee shot, you walk down into the valley below where a monument describes this hole as the "Mass Hole" -- where (before golf was played there) locals would secretly meet to practice Catholic mass, weddings, baptisms, and other services - at a time when doing so was punishable by death. After a moment of soaking that notion in while walking up to the green, you'll hopefully find your ball in position to make a rare birdie on this course which boasts a 77.9 rating!"
Green's #3 Favorite Hole: 18th Hole at Karsten Creek GCÂ (Stillwater, Okla.) -- 551 yards -- Par 5
In Green's words:Â "The hole itself isn't necessarily in my top 3, but during the late morning of May 29th (also my birthday), 2018, the setting and events that unfolded were in my top 3 golf experiences: Duke is tied with Texas, having each won two matches in the NCAA matchplay quarterfinals. Senior Jake Shuman in the anchor match delivers, making eagle and sending Duke to the semifinals --the drama, the moment, the anticipation, the execution by Jake, and the elation, joy, and excitement of our players and families. The fairway is plenty wide, so don't allow yourself to have wandering eyes and thoughts about the "jungle" full of gnarly stuff on the right or the lake on the left. Hit the shape/trajectory shot you trust the most and envision the ball successfully ending up down the middle. If conditions are right, the green is reachable. Have a clear plan for where you want the ball in relation to the hole location and be filled with belief that you'll execute the second shot successfully. Once on or around the green, recognize the green speed, firmness and degree of slope around the hole. Trust your short-game and deliver!
