DURHAM, N.C. – Three members of the Duke field hockey program earned degrees from the university at commencement exercises Sunday, May 10.
Receiving bachelor degrees were Abby Beltrani (cultural anthropology), Jessica Buttinger (evolutionary anthropology) and Martine Chichizola (evolutionary anthropology).
“Congratulations to our three Duke True seniors: Abby Beltrani, Jess Buttinger and Martine Chichizola on their graduation from Duke University,” said head coach Pam Bustin. “Each has worked diligently to represent both the field hockey program and their respective fields of study in the most impressive way. I could not be more proud of each of them as individuals or as our 2015 senior class. They leave behind a great legacy built over their four years, and hopefully take with them a great sense of pride and confidence."
All three student-athletes were members of Duke's 2013 squad that reached the NCAA championship game for the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2005. The group also guided the Blue Devils to NCAA quarterfinals appearances in 2011 and 2014 while combining for four NFHCA National Academic Squad selections and eight appearances on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
