DURHAM, N.C. - Head field hockey coach Beth Bozman announced today that former assistant coach Jarred Martin has been named associate head coach for the 2010 season.
"Jarred Martin has brought a new dimension to our team," Bozman said. "He is respected and valued by our players and staff. For all he has brought to the program, he deserves this title."
Entering his fourth year with the Blue Devils, Martin helped Duke reach the NCAA Tournament twice and produce 10 All-America selections in the last three seasons.
"Beth has given me the opportunity to coach at one of the best universities and field hockey programs in the country," Martin said. "It's an honor."
Martin's coaching experience also reaches beyond the collegiate levels, as he worked with the South High Performance Training Center and the U.S. Futures program in his home state of New York. He also earned a Level II Accreditation from USA Field Hockey last year.
"The last few years have enabled me to grow as a coach as well as continue to represent the U.S. on the National Team and compete at the highest level," Martin said.
A current member of the U.S. Men's National Team, Martin has earned 68 caps and scored 42 goals in international competition. Martin has played in two Pan-American Games and recently competed for the U.S. side in the BDO FIH World Cup qualifier in Quilmes, Argentina.
"The Duke Athletic Department has so many great qualities and everyone here has made my experience extremely rewarding and enjoyable," Martin said.
Duke field hockey will hold its first event of the year with the annual Winter Weekend camp on Feb. 27-28. More details are available at goduke.com
