DURHAM, N.C. - Senior defender Shayna McGeehan was selected to the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team on Sunday afternoon, as was announced following the 2007 ACC Field Hockey Championship game in Newton, Mass.
The Grantville, Pa., native recorded a defensive save and netted her fourth goal of the season on Thursday in Duke's opening round ACC Tournament contest versus Wake Forest. McGeehan's goal brought the Blue Devils within one before the halftime break and Duke battled back in the second half to tie the game at two apiece, but the Demon Deacons scored with four minutes remaining in the contest to come away with the 3-2 win.
McGeehan has started all 19 games for the Blue Devils this season and has not been in the starting lineup just twice in 84 games for her career. An invaluable player on the defensive end, she has found her way into Duke's offensive scheme this season, netting four goals - including two game-winners - after recording just one tally prior to her senior campaign.
A 2007 Senior All-Star selection, McGeehan has two defensive saves to her credit in 2007 along with eight points, to go along with a team-high shot percentage of .667 (4-for-6).
