DURHAM, N.C. ? Juniors Marian Dickinson and Laura Suchoski and senior Caitlin Williams have been selected to the 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Team, as was announced on Wednesday by conference officials.
Dickinson is tops on the Blue Devil squad in points (34) and goals (13) and is tied for first in assists (eight) with sophomore Lauren Miller. The Alberta, Canada, native ranks ninth on the Duke career charts with 39 goals scored in 63 career games, and her 103 career points to date rank seventh in the Duke record book.
Suchoski has six goals and six assists to her credit this season for 18 points, a total that ranks third on the Duke squad. The Wilkes-Barre, Pa., native has started every game since she arrived in Durham, and has been a vital asset for the Blue Devils on both sides of the ball throughout her career.
Williams currently leads the ACC in saves (103) and saves per game (5.72) and owns a goals against average of 1.94 and a save percentage of .746 for the year. The Greenland, N.H. native has 15 shutouts to her credit over her career, including four in 2007, a total which ranks second in the conference.
Suchoski is a repeat winner of the All-ACC accolade, having previously been named to the team as a sophomore in 2006, while the honor is the first of its kind for Dickinson and Williams. Williams was one of a record three goalkeepers to be named to the all-conference squad this year.
North Carolina and Maryland each placed four student-athletes on the squad, while Duke and Wake Forest each had three selections. Two student-athletes from Boston College and one from Virginia were also selected to the all-conference squad.
Duke will begin postseason play versus Wake Forest on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the 2007 ACC Tournament, hosted by Boston College at Newton Campus Turf Field in Newton, Mass. The winner of the contest will move on to the semifinals, where it will face Maryland at 7 p.m. on Friday.
