Upcoming Event: Women's Basketball versus Countdown to Craziness on October 3, 2025 at 7 p.m.

Bobby Sorrell is in his 33rd year with the Duke athletics department and is in his 20th year with the women’s basketball program. After spending eight years as an administrative assistant under Gail Goestenkors’ staff, Sorrell was moved to the executive assistant to the head coach position under head coach Joanne P. McCallie.
Sorrell is responsible for many of the day-to-day happenings of the Duke women’s basketball office, including the coordination of coach Kara Lawson’s speaking and community schedule, campus recruiting, coaches’ travel, running the True Blue Golf Classic, organizing the “Road Devils” and recruiting travel as well as assisting with camps and coordinating game-day management.
Sorrell has traveled to four NCAA Final Fours with the Blue Devils in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2006, while also being a part of eight ACC Championship squads from 2000-04, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
Prior to working with women’s basketball, Sorrell, a native of Durham, worked in the Duke ticket office as an assistant manager for 11 seasons.
He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham from 2002-10. He is the staff advisor for the Blue Devils vs. Cancer student group.
Sorrell and his wife of 26 years, Tammy, reside in Rougemont, N.C., with their three children, Eliza (25), Sam (22) and Grace (19).
