Kelly Baril begins her fifth season as an assistant coach at Duke, working primarily with the Blue Devil goalies and the defensive unit. In four seasons with Baril directing the goalies, Duke has recorded 26 shutout wins, including five in 2006 by Caitlin Williams, who ranked fourth in the ACC with 74 saves for the season.
Baril had a highly successful playing career under Beth Bozman at Princeton, helping lead the Tigers to a 50-20 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances in her four seasons. A 2003 graduate with a degree in psychology, Baril earned numerous accolades as a goalie while at Princeton, including first team All-America status as a junior and second team All-America accolades as a sophomore and senior. She was also a three-time All-Ivy League and regional All-America.
A member of the U.S. Under-23 team, Baril has competed in several international tournaments including the Junior World Cup in Argentina in 2000. The Peabody, Mass., native has also played in the USFHA United Airlines Field Hockey league for the past five summers.
Her high school career included four league titles at Bishop Fenwick, where she collected the second-most shutouts of any high school goalkeeper in U.S. history.
