COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Duke field hockey senior
Alaina McVeigh headlined the Blue Devils' five selections with a first-team nod to the 2025 NFHCA All-South Region Teams sponsored by Apex Field Hockey.
Garnering first-team recognition for the third straight year, McVeigh was joined on the All-South Region Teams by seniors
Paige Bitting and
Macy Szukics and sophomores
Julia Boehringer and
Madison Beach with second-team honors.
Duke's top scorer for each of the past three seasons, McVeigh becomes the second Blue Devil to earn three consecutive first-team honors since the league started compiling two teams in 2013. She is the 12th Duke player to pick up three All-ACC honors in her career.
McVeigh is the first Blue Devil to earn three consecutive first-team all-region accolades since Margaux Paolino was a four-time recipient 2016-19. The Lansdale, Pennsylvania product led the Blue Devil offense with 15 goals and nine assists for a career-best 39 points this season. The 15 markers tied for 14th Duke single-season history while the 39 points are tied for 20th. McVeigh scored a goal in 11 games and had multiple goals in four games this season.
For her career, McVeigh has 45 goals and 14 assists for 104 points and is one of six Duke players to post at least 20 points in each of her first three seasons on the turf. McVeigh is also one of four Blue Devils to register double-digit goals in each of her first three seasons. She currently ranks 10th in Duke history with 104 career points and ninth with 45 career goals.
Boehringer and Beach both had breakout sophomore seasons, ranking second and third on the team with 25 and 18 points, respectively. Boehringer was Duke's second leading goal scorer with 10 tallies on the year, including a hat trick in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal. After coming off the bench last season, the native of Munich, Germany, started every game for the Blue Devils and scored 22 more points than she did in 20 games in 2024.
The engine from the right side for the Blue Devils, Beach led the team with 12 assists to rank 14th in Duke single-season history. Beach started all 21 games and really hit her stride in the second half of the season with an assist in seven of the team's final 10 games. She also had the game winner in a 3-1 victory at Boston College in that span.
A starter in 79 of her 82 games played, Bitting was the steadiest of forces for Duke's midfield over the past four years. She was a leader in the middle as a stalwart defensive midfielder while also serving as the connector between the backfield and attacking players.
The native of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, finished her career with four assists as a leader on Duke's penalty corner unit. And to demonstrate her ability to thrive on both ends of the field, Bitting also was a key player on the defensive penalty corner team that excelled over the past few seasons.
Szukics was Duke's Swiss army knife this past season, moving to the center back position after playing her entire career in the midfield. The Malvern, Pennsylvania native did not miss a beat in helping Duke to finish the season ranked second in the ACC and 11th nationally with a 1.17 goals against average. Duke also posted seven shutouts.
A threat on the offensive penalty corner unit as well, Szukics finished the year with three goals and six assists for 12 points. She played 82 games in her career with 67 starts and scored seven goals and 20 assists for 34 points.
The Blue Devils finished the year 13-8 overall, advancing to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
