The Opening Faceoff
- Duke moved to 3-0 following a hard-fought 11-9 win over Saint Joseph's. The Blue Devils are led by Eric Malever's 15 points (7g, 8a) and Luke Grayum with 10 points. Andrew McAdorey leads the first midfield with five goals and three assists. Defensively, Duke sports an 8.33 goals against average and is holding opponents to .278 shooting. The defense also has contributed five goals to the offensive effort
- Michigan, ranked 19th and 20th by the USILA and USA Lacrosse, respectively, is 2-1 this season and coming off a 15-9 road win at Hobart. The Wolverines make their second trip to North Carolina, losing to UNC, 15-6, Feb. 8. Ryan Cohen is the top point scorer with 12 points (5g, 7a) while Aidan Mulholland has a team-best seven goals. Defensively, Michigan is forcing 29.5 turnovers per game with Mason Whitney and Pace Billings both with five caused turnovers. Jackie Weller is 22-of-40 (.550) at the faceoff dot. Taylor Hunters has a .490 save percentage in goal with an 8.33 goals against average.
- This is the first time Duke and Michigan have met in the regular season and the first regular-season contest for the Blue Devils against a Big Ten foe since playing Rutgers in 2014 - three months prior to it officially joining the Big 10. It is the first game against a Big 10 foe since playing Penn State in 2010.

Series History
- Duke and Michigan are meeting for just the second time and the first time in the regular season. The two programs first played in the 2023 NCAA quarterfinals with Duke emerging victorious, 15-8.
- Duke's matchup with the Wolverines is the first regular-season game against an active Big 10 member since the Blue Devils hosted Penn State in 2010. Duke played Rutgers in 2014 -months before it joined the conference and Maryland in 2012 in its final season in the ACC.

- Seven current Blue Devils saw action on the field the last time these two teams met in the 2023 NCAA quarterfinal. Brennan O'Neill was the story of that game with six goals and an assist while Andrew McAdorey and Dyson Williams registered hat tricks. The attack trio had 12 of Duke's 15 goals in the 15-8 victory.
- Kenny Brower anchored the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and William Helm had 14 saves in goal. Duke held the Wolverines to just 21 percent shooting on the afternoon.

- Under John Danowski, Duke is 138-62 (.690) versus USILA top-20 opponents. Duke is scheduled to play nine teams ranked in the USILA top 20, including four of the top five.
A Balanced Blue Devils
- Duke has a host of scoring options on offense with the Blue Devils able to rely on both the attack and midfield units to provide scoring. In the win over Saint Joseph's, six of the 11 goals came from the sticks of midfielders while the attack unit had three. At Jacksonville, the attackmen had seven of the 14 goals and the midfield had seven.
- Overall, the starting attack unit has 31 points (18g, 13a) and the top two midfield lines have 29 (19g, 10a). Both the attack and midfield groups have three man-up goals apiece.
Duke's Depth At The Dot
- Duke has a wealth of depth at the faceoff dot with three options in junior Luke Engelke, sophomore Cal Girard and freshman Ben McCarthy. All three have taken at least 18 faceoffs this season. Engelke has the slight edge in percentage at .595 (22-of-37) while McCarthy is .581 (18-of-31).
- Duke has a new stick at the faceoff dot for the first time since 2020. Jake Naso graduated after taking 1,688 career faceoffs. Girard and Engelke returned after having taken a combined 164 in their careers. The duo has already taken 55 this season. Freshman Ben McCarthy, a high school All-American, joins the fray. He had his best game in the win at Jacksonville, going 12-of-17.
