QUICK HITS
- The Blue Devils have pounded the baseball out of the yard this season, while also limiting the number of round trippers they have allowed on the mound. Duke is tied for first in the ACC with a plus-34 home run differential with Virginia Tech.
- Head coach Chris Pollard tied Steve Traylor (1988-99) for second all-time with 356 wins at Duke on Sunday. Pollard is now 25 wins away from tying legendary head coach Jack Coombs (1929-52) for first on the all-time Duke wins list with 381. The 12th year skipper is nine wins from collecting his 750th career victory.
- Senior catcher Alex Stone climbed into a tie for fifth all-time on the career home run list for Duke, hitting his 32nd and 33rd in a Blue Devils' uniform on Sunday against NC State. The multi-home run game moved him even with Gregg Maluchinuk (1995-98) who hit 33 home runs during his time in Durham. The career home run record was set by Nate Freiman (2006-09) who crushed 43 home runs in a Duke uniform.
- Freshman AJ Gracia continues to chase greatness for Duke in his first season. He began the year with a 22-game reached base streak and added his seventh home run of the year on Saturday against NC State. Gracia now sits five home runs away from breaking Andrew Fischer's freshman home run record of 11. The Monroe, N.J., native has started all 24 games, producing a slash line of .337/.651/.477, while leading the team in walks with 19.
- The Blue Devils continue to prove why they are one of the best pitching staff in the country, the strikeouts numbers are quickly adding up for opponents. Duke has now punched out 267 batters, holding opponents to a .193 average at the plate. That mark is on pace to break last year's program record of 675 total strikeouts.
