QUICK HITS
- The freshman continue to shine on the diamond in key spots for the Blue Devils, after having multiple freshman arms impress on the mound last season. Macon Winslow and AJ Gracia both have earned consistent playing time since opening day, as Winslow has started all 19 games he has appeared in this season, posting a .355 average and four home runs, while Gracia has started all 21 games in 2024, posting a .356 average, hitting six home runs and leading the team in walks with 18.
- The Blue Devils continue to pounce on opponents like they did throughout the season in 2023. Duke has recorded 113 of its 200 runs so far this season from the fourth to eighth innings. That number accounts for 56.5% of the Blue Devils' run production this season.
- Duke added to their home run barrage against Towson, bringing their season tally to 48. That mark is fourth in the country and second in the ACC behind Virginia Tech. Georgia currently leads the country with 63 home runs. The 48 home runs hit by Duke is currently on pace to break last season's program record of 109.
- Duke baseball improved to 7-0 on the season when scoring 10-plus runs in a game. The Blue Devils nearly tallied their fourth 20-plus run game of the year, scoring 18 against Rider in game two of the double midweek. Duke was 18-0 a year ago when scoring 10 or more runs in a contest and 4-0 in the ACC.
- Former Duke infielder Graham Pauley had his contract selected by the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night and traveled with the team to Seoul, South Korea for the 2024 Opening Day Korea Series. Pauley became the 46th player in program history to make his MLB debut. The Milton, Ga., native was selected in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB Entry Draft after appearing in 84 games in Durham. Pauley joined Jackson Merrill in making his major league debut, making the jump directly from Double-A. He is in his second full season as a professional and earned the Padres' Minor League Player of the Year award last season.
- Head coach Chris Pollard needs one win to move into a tie for second all-time in program history for career wins at Duke. He also is 10 wins away from career win number 750 and 26 wins away from tying legendary head coach Jack Coombs (1929-52) for first on the all-time Duke wins list with 381.
