DURHAM – Duke softball concluded its 2023 fall ball campaign after collecting a pair of wins over Tennessee and North Carolina A&T this weekend at Duke Softball Stadium.
The Blue Devils finished the fall schedule with a perfect 8-0 record after defeating Tennessee, 1-0, on Saturday and sweeping North Carolina A&T in a doubleheader, 11-2 and 13-1, on Sunday.
Saturday's contest with the Volunteers was evenly matched until the Blue Devils were able to break through in the bottom of the third inning using junior

Cassidy Curd controlled the game from inside the circle and kept Tennessee off the board, securing the 1-0 victory.
Duke closed out the weekend with a doubleheader sweep over North Carolina A&T on Sunday. The Blue Devils defeated the Aggies, 11-2, in the opening game before claiming a 13-1 victory in the nightcap.
Graduate student
Gisele Tapia highlighted the offense in the opening game, crushing a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the second to put the Blue Devils in front, 6-0. An explosive fifth inning added five more Duke runs to put the game away, 11-2.
Sophomore
Sophie Garner-MacKinnon earned the start in the circle against the Aggies, sitting down the first six batters she faced before giving up one walk. Garner-MacKinnon then settled back in to retire the next three batters and close out the third inning. Senior
Lillie Walker took over for Garner-MacKinnon in the top of the fourth inning and allowed just two runs off two hits in her two innings of work.
In the second game, Tapia remained strong at the plate, blasting another three-RBI triple in the second inning to push the Blue Devils ahead, 5-1. Duke added in three more runs off three hits to pull away, 8-1. Freshman
Linh Le added in a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring in senior
Sarah Goddard, who reached on a triple, and help the Blue Devils collect the win, 13-1.
Walker earned the start in the circle in the second game and tossed one quick inning to set the tone. Drogemuller, Wright and Curd also saw action in the nightcap and combined to surrender just one run off one hit as a staff.
