ATLANTA, Ga. – Duke softball completed the conference series sweep at Georgia Tech with a 4-2 road win Sunday evening at Mewborn Field.
The Blue Devils (22-10, 8-1 ACC) have now won 14 straight contests against the Yellow Jackets (17-17, 5-7 ACC).
Jayla Stafford and
Adelyn Matthews jumpstarted the offense with back-to-back home runs to knot the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth. The freshman duo each finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Redshirt junior
Kairi Rodriguez also went 1-for-3 with a double in the top of the second for Duke's first hit of the contest.
Senior
Cassidy Curd made her third appearance of the weekend, working the first 4.0 innings to earn the win. Curd allowed the Yellow Jackets' two runs off five hits while collecting a game-high four strikeouts. Sophomore
Mallory Wheeler picked up the save after tossing 3.0 hitless innings of relief.

- Addison Leschber sent out a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to give Georgia Tech the first lead of the game, 2-0.
- The Blue Devils responded with a four-run frame in the top of the fifth to jump in front, 4-2. Stafford and Matthews leveled the score with back-to-back homers before senior Aminah Vega ripped an RBI-triple down the right-field line and came home on a Yellow Jackets fielding error.
- Wheeler took control in the circle, entering in the bottom of the fifth and allowing just two base runners to reach on a pair of walks over the final three frames to secure the series sweep.
NOTES
- Stafford recorded the first home run of her collegiate career while Matthews tallied her second.
- Vega logged her fourth triple of the year and ninth of her career.
- Wheeler earned her second save of the season.
