DURHAM – Rookie
Andrew Yu drew a two-out RBI walk to secure a 6-5 win over Longwood in 13 innings on Wednesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Duke (13-16) topped Longwood (13-17) in 13 innings for its longest game since against Wake Forest in May 2018. The Blue Devils recorded 13 walks in the contest, including nine after the seventh inning.

Graham Pauley led Duke offensively, finishing 2-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of walks.

Senior right-hander
Cooper Stinson started on the bump for the Blue Devils. Stinson allowed four runs on five hits and a walk in 4.2 innings of work. Stinson also recorded two strikeouts in the outing. Cole Taylor earned the start for Longwood and surrendered five runs on five hits and three walks.

Longwood got on the board first, scoring in the top of the first inning. Following the run, Stinson was dialed in, retiring  11 of the following 12 batters. Duke's offense responded also, scoring five runs across the first three innings.

The Blue Devils plated two in the top of the first as Pauley plated freshman
Alex Mooney with an RBI double. Junior
Chad Knight drove in Pauley later in the inning with a sacrifice fly to center.

Three more runs were scored in the second and third innings by the way of two home runs. Freshman
Devin Obee crushed a two-run homer to left center in the bottom of the second before sophomore
Luke Storm hit a solo long ball in the third inning. Obee's home run read at 426 feet and 109 mph off the bat while Storm's traveled 429 feet and a 106 mph exit velocity.

The Lancers tallied three more runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull within one, 5-4.

Longwood tied it in the top of the ninth inning. Duke had multiple chances to seal the game, holding two outs and two strikes in three consecutive at-bats, but the Lancers were able to draw a hit by pitch and two hits to tie the game at 5-5.

Duke placed a runner on second with one out in the bottom of the ninth, 10th and 12th but were unable to prosper. The Blue Devils closed the game in the 13th inning by the way of three walks and a hit by pitch.

Freshman southpaw
Jonathan Santucci pitched a clean 1.1 innings, facing the minimum four batters with three strikeouts. Sophomore
Josh Allen recorded his seventh consecutive scoreless appearance, surrendering just two hits and striking out four in 1.2 innings of work.

Also out of the bullpen, graduate student
John Natoli allowed just one hit and fanned one on 1.2 innings of work. Sophomore
Adam Boucher fanned three in an inning of work to earn the win.

Duke travels to Winston-Salem this weekend for an ACC series against Wake Forest. First pitch times are set for 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
