Duke Concludes Regular Season at Virginia Grand Prix Invitational

DURHAM – Duke track and field heads back to Charlottesville this weekend as the Blue Devils close the regular season on Sunday, May 1 at the Virginia Grand Prix Invitational.

The meet commences at 11 a.m. with the women's hammer throw, and will run through the men's and women's 1500m set to begin at 8:20 p.m.

What to Watch/Last Time Out:

Senior Cole Rowan joined teammates Erick Duffy (first) and Michael Fairbanks (second) in the top five of the ACC pole vaulting marks with a career-best performance at the Virginia Challenge.
Rowan cleared 5.11m (16-9.25 feet), which ranks fifth in the conference.
Dana Baker notched a personal-best toss of 51.51m (169 feet) this past weekend in the women's javelin to finish as runner-up. The senior's mark moved her up one spot into second all-time on the Duke list.
On the men's side, sophomore Scott Campbell also registered a personal best of 69.63m (228-5 feet) on the second attempt, improving his No. 5 program mark in the process.
Both Baker and Campbell's marks rank fourth in the ACC.
Graduate student Erin Marsh ran the conference's third-fastest 100m hurdle time of 13.40 seconds – a season best – at the Virginia Challenge last week and finished as the event runner-up.

Duke's women's team is currently ranked 19th in the nation.
The Blue Devils boast the top-ranked women's heptathlon group and the No. 3 men's javelin unit in the nation, according to the USTFCCA Event Squad rankings.
Three Blue Devil women hold top-10 national marks – Isabel Wakefield (third) and Erin Marsh (seventh) in the heptathlon and Lauren Hoffman (fourth) in the 400m hurdles.

The Blue Devils turn their attention to the postseason beginning with the ACC Outdoor Championships. Duke will host the three-day conference meet May 12-14 at Morris Williams Stadium.
