PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Duke track and field received strong performances from its distance unit during the split weekend, as the Blue Devils rewrote the program record book with top-five marks in the men's and women's 5000 meters and the women's 3000-meter steeplechase.
TOP PERFORMANCES – PENN RELAYS:
- Duke's graduate student duo of Jette Beermann and Audrey DaDamio posted solid races in the women's 5000 and carved out their respective spots on the Duke charts.
- Beermann turned in her fastest race as a Blue Devil and crossed the finish line in 15:46.59 to slot herself No. 2 all-time, while DaDamio delivered a huge personal best of 15:47.18 – 12 seconds faster than her previous best – to move into third all-time in program lore.
- The record-breaking party carried over to the men's 5000, with juniors Alden Keller and Sean Morello also notching top-five program marks via major personal bests.
- Morello slashed over 12 seconds off his previous best en route to clocking 13:46.78 – No. 2 on the Duke charts. Keller lowered his 5000 time by nearly 10 seconds, crossing the line in 13:47.63 to cement himself third in Blue Devil history.
TOP PERFORMANCES – CHARLOTTE INVITATIONAL:
- The Blue Devils swept the podium in the women's 3000m SC behind standout showings by sophomore Ebba Cronholm, graduate student Katie Hamilton and junior Hattie Reynolds.
- Cronholm led the charge for the Duke trio, hitting the tape in 10:09.79 for the fifth-fastest time in program history. Hamilton ran a personal-best 10:12.72 to finish runner-up, while Reynolds placed third with a time of 10:14.56.
- Junior Michael Scherk represented the Blue Devils in the men's 110-meter hurdles and took second with a mark of 14.10.
