DURHAM - The 23rd-ranked Duke baseball team travels to Waco, Texas for a three-game series at Baylor Feb. 25-27.Â
LEADING OFF
Duke hits the road for the first time in the 2022 campaign as the Blue Devils travel to Waco, Texas to take on the Baylor Bears. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. CST Friday and Saturday before a 1 p.m. series finale on Sunday. Duke trails Baylor 2-0 in the all-time series, with the lone meetings coming in Waco on opening weekend in 2010. Head coach
Chris Pollard, in his 10th season at Duke, has never faced the Bears. All three games will be broadcast on Big 12 Now via ESPN+. John Morris (PxP) and Pat Combs (Analyst) will have the call on Friday. Due to scheduling conflicts, there will not be a Duke radio broadcast this weekend. Following the game, Duke returns to Durham for a 15-game home stand.

EYE, EYE CAPTAIN
Graduate Student outfielder
Chris Davis has been a spark plug for the Duke offense, finding ways to get on base. With just two hits in 19 plate appearances, Davis has found ways to get it done with nine walks and an on-base percentage of .579. He leads the team with nine of Duke's 27 walks so far this season.
Â
SEIDL'S STELLAR DEBUT
Junior right-hander
Billy Seidl was electric out of the bullpen for Duke on opening weekend. The Wellesley, Mass., native struck out a career-high six batters in a career-high four innings pitched without allowing a hit.
Â
DLUX
Entering the season a career 3-for-27 hitter, senior
Damon Lux earned the starting job in center field and has shown why he was tasked with the role. Lux led the team over the weekend with five RBIs on Saturday against VMI, doing a bit of everything with two sacrifice flies, a single and a three-run home run.
Â
EXPERIENCE IN THE PEN
While the Blue Devils offense will feature a lot of new faces, Duke's pitching staff remained largely intact and added multiple quality arms to bolster the staff. Duke returns over 75 percent of multiple pitching statistics for the 2022 season.

JOHNSON EMBRACING NEW ROLE
After a stellar year as Duke's closer, junior
Marcus Johnson is set to be the Friday night starter for the Blue Devils in 2022. Johnson will be making his first start on opening weekend after recording a 3.05 ERA with five wins and seven saves out of the bullpen last year. He made 30 appearances, ranking in the top 10 in program history, and put together a 0.93 WHIP and a .196 opposing batting average. He showed excellent control and pounded the strike zone, allowing the fewest hits and second-fewest walks in the conference with a minimum of one inning pitched per game.
Â
EYES ON MOONEY
Freshman shortstop
Alex Mooney will have many eyes on him during his first season in Durham. The highly touted prospect out of Rochester Hills, Mich., was tabbed the preseason ACC Freshman of the Year by D1Baseball, Baseball America and Perfect Game. He's a consensus top-10 prospect out of the ACC in the class of 2023 as he will be a draft eligible sophomore. After a slow opening day, Mooney has recorded three consecutive multi-hit games.
Â
WELCOME!
Duke welcomed four graduate transfers to the team for the 2022 season in outfielder
Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth), infielder
Ben LaSpaluto (Gardner-Webb), left-handed pitcher
Caleb McRoy (NC Central) and right-handed pitcher
John Natoli (Cornell). All four continue a tradition of grad transfers at Duke and look to make immediate impacts to the team.
Â
HOME SWEET HOME
Graduate students
Chris Crabtree and
Wil Hoyle have invested blood, sweat and tears into the Duke program after seeing it develop in their backyards. Hoyle, a native of Durham, and Crabtree, a native of Bahama, are no strangers to the Duke program and grew up facing each other in high school baseball in Durham. Now, the duo are co-captains of the 2022 team after leading the Blue Devils to unprecedented heights during their careers.

K'S 4 KIDS CANCER
Duke has partnered with the Duke Children's Hospital for the fourth consecutive season in the K's 4 Kids' Cancer campaign. Donors can pledge an amount of money to donate per strikeout that the Blue Devils pitching staff throws in 2022. So far, the partnership has contributed over $30,000 in support of the Duke Children's Hospital. Over the past four seasons, Duke has amassed nearly 1,900 strikeouts.
Â
STRONG SLATE in 2022
The Blue Devils once again have a challenging slate ahead in the 2022 campaign. Of the 56 games on the schedule, 28 games feature one of 11 opponents that reached the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Duke will host two three-game series with opponents that reached the College World Series in NC State and Virginia. The Blue Devils will play non-conference home-and-homes with Liberty, East Carolina and Campbell.
