DURHAM, N.C. – Duke returns to the diamond for a midweek matchup with East Carolina on Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham, N.C.

- Duke (6-5, 3-3 ACC) hosts East Carolina (9-2) on Tuesday at the DBAP. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
- Duke is seeking to level the season series with East Carolina after the Pirates took the first game 6-1 on Feb. 23.
- The Blue Devils currently lead the NCAA in doubles (34) and rank fourth in doubles per game (3.09). Graduate Peter Matt and senior Michael Rothenberg both boast five doubles so far this season, tying for the most in the ACC.
- Duke boasts 113 hits so far this season, the second most in the ACC. The Blue Devils are averaging 10.27 hits per game, the highest per game since 2008.
- The Blue Devils and Pirates meet for just the 55th time in the two programs' histories. East Carolina leads the all-time series with a 40-14 record. Pollard is 1-7 all-time against East Carolina, with all eight meetings coming during his tenure at Duke.

DUKE VS. EAST CAROLINA
Duke and East Carolina meet for the 55th time in the two programs' history, dating back to 1958. The Pirates have a grip on the series, leading the Blue Devils, 40-14. At home, Duke is 8-15 all-time. ECU has gotten off to a hot start, holding a 9-2 record so far this season. In their most recent action, the Pirates swept in-state foe Appalachian State in a three-game series by a combined score of 28-6. East Carolina brings a lot of power to the plate as seen in the two teams' last meeting as the Pirates hit three home runs in the game. The Pirates are led by Connor Norby who leads the team in batting average (.511), runs (13), hits (24), doubles (5) and stolen bases (3). East Carolina currently ranks No. 14 in both the Baseball America Top 25 Poll and the D1Baseball Top 25 and No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll.

The Blue Devil pitching staff has ascended to new heights over the past three seasons, shattering the school's single-season strikeout record in 2018 and 2019. Last season, the Blue Devils' 11.51 strikeouts per nine innings would have set a program record through a full season and ranked 16th nationally when the season was canceled.
