Duke and East Carolina meet for the 55th time in the two programs' history, dating back to 1958. The Pirates have a grip on the series, leading the Blue Devils, 40-14. At home, Duke is 8-15 all-time. Duke's most recent win, a 7-2 victory in March of 2019, snapped a 17-game losing streak that lasted over 20 years, from 1998-2019. In the two teams' last meeting, East Carolina took a 6-1 win earlier this season in Greenville. Head coach Chris Pollard owns a 1-7 career record against East Carolina with all seven meetings coming while at Duke.

In their most recent action, the Pirates swept in-state foe Appalachian State in a three-game series by a combined score of 28-6. East Carolina brings a lot of power to the plate as seen in the two teams' last meeting as the Pirates hit three home runs in the game. The Pirates are led by Connor Norby who leads the team in batting average (.511), runs (13), hits (24), doubles (5) and stolen bases (3).
