Meet the Coaches of the Kara Era: Winston Gandy

DURHAM, N.C.— Over the last few weeks prior to the Duke women's basketball program tipping off its 2020-21 season, GoDuke.com has been getting to know the three new assistant coaches for the Blue Devils. Head coach Kara Lawson hired Beth Cunningham, Winston Gandy and Tia Jackson in July to help lead the squad.
Our final assistant coach we caught up with is Gandy, who spent the last three seasons at Rice as an assistant coach. Part of the best stretch in Rice women's basketball history, Gandy helped the Owls to a 72-22 overall record and 42-8 mark in Conference USA action over the last three seasons. Prior to his coaching stint at Rice, Gandy spent three years as the Coordinator of Player Development for the Washington Wizards.
