DURHAM, N.C. – Following a successful weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational, the Duke track & field team is set to compete at the Armory Collegiate in New York, N.Y. Competition kicks off Thursday and will run until Saturday.
The meet opens with
Elasia Campbell,
Lara Kohlenbach,
Kate Kutzer and
Isabel Wakefield representing Duke in the pentathlon on Thursday, marking the first multi-event opportunity of the year for the Blue Devils.
Friday's competition will feature four field events – women's pole vault, men's shot put and men's and women's long jump. In the shot put, redshirt-junior
Ben Beatty looks to continue his explosive start to the season as he recorded a personal-best 17.38 (57-0.25) mark – which also ranks as the fifth-best in program history – at Virginia Tech last weekend.
The track lineup will also be highlighted by the distance medley relay, where junior
Alex Miley, junior
Miles Mingo, freshman
Luke Spurrier and senior
Matt Wisner will be competing for the men. The group will take on a competitive field of 10 teams, and will try to follow up the performance of last year's quartet that posted a second-place time of 9:41.88 at the Armory.
On Saturday, Wisner will be competing against six professional runners in the men's invitational 800m. The race will begin at 12:38 p.m. ET, with the meet set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network from noon-2 p.m. ET. Wisner qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800m last season.
In the college 800m, Spurrier puts his remarkable start to the season on the line after claiming first place in the 800 at both the Carolina Challenge and Virginia Tech Invitational last week.

Connor Atkinson will compete in the men's 60m hurdles, and looks to build off of a personal record and third-place finish at the Carolina Challenge two weeks ago.

Esteban Suarez is slated for the men's pole vault on Saturday. Suarez earned an ACC Indoor Championships qualification with a clearance of 4.95 (16-2.75) at the Carolina Challenge. He will be joined in the event by sophomore
Cole Rowan, who cleared a seasonal-best 4.70 (15-5) last week at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
Both the men's and women's high jump will feature team members who have kicked off the season on a high note. On the men's side, freshman
Beau Allen qualified for ACC's at the Carolina Challenge with a jump of 2.07 (6-9.5) – good for second place in the event – and bested that with a 2.10 (6-10.75) mark in Blacksburg. Senior
Cassie Martin will be representing the women, and looks to build off of two second-place performances that include a collegiate-best 1.72 (5-7.75) a week ago.
In the women's 3000m, senior
Lindsay Billings will try and improve on a personal-best time she set at the Carolina Challenge. Six Duke men will be running the 3000m, with sophomore
CJ Ambrosio set to take on national caliber competition in the fastest field.
The men's 400m will feature junior
Miles Mingo, who posted the fastest time in school history with a 34.28 finish in the 300m last weekend.
Fellow freshman
Ezra Mellinger will compete in the men's 200m, an event that he made his collegiate debut in last weekend and placed third (22.26).
The men's mile will feature a strong lineup as freshman
Rory Cavan, sophomore
Joe Cullen, junior
Alex Miley and sophomore
Matt Politis are set to compete for the Blue Devils.
