ATLANTA, Ga. – Duke volleyball fell to Georgia Tech 3-0 (18-25, 15-25, 13-25) Sunday evening in Atlanta, Ga.
The Blue Devils were unable to find an answer to an efficient Yellow Jacket team who hit .348 percent for the match. Georgia Tech registered 45 kills to Duke's 23 and closed the match in the third set hitting .467 percent with 17 kills and just three attack errors.
Duke was led offensively by
Ade Owokoniran and
Lizzie Fleming with five kills each as Fleming hit .364 percent with just one hitting error. Rookie
Camille Nazor dished 10 assists while libero
Mackenzie Cole picked up seven digs.
Heading into the match, Georgia Tech was second in the ACC in hitting percentage (.265), kills (867, 14.21 kills/set) and in assists (802, 13.15 assists/set). The Yellow Jackets trail only No. 7 Pittsburgh in several categories.
Georgia Tech played just seven players the entire match and were led by Julia Bergmann with a double-double (12 kills, 15 digs) and hit .409 for the match with just three errors and Mariana Brambilla with 11 kills.
Duke will return to Durham to host Wake Forest Wednesday at 7 p.m., before welcoming Virginia Tech Friday for a 6:30 p.m., match in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
