Prior to Duke: Swam for Grafton High School and the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins… Qualified for junior nationals in the 100-meter backstroke as a freshman, the 200-yard backstroke as a sophomore and the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle as a junior… As a senior, earned All-America honors, captured a VHSL Class Three championship and qualified for junior nationals in the 50-meter freestyle.
