GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke swimming team turned in an impressive all-around showing at the 2025 Wolfpack Elite Invitational over the weekend.
Headlining the Duke women were junior
Ali Pfaff and senior
Kaelyn Gridley. Pfaff turned in a quartet of top-three placements – including two on the program's top-10 performers list, while Gridley added three top-three showings of her own. The pair's performances were highlighted by victories in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke, respectively. Overall, the Blue Devil women earned eight top-three placements.
On the men's side, the Blue Devils combined for 13 marks that landed on Duke's all-time top-10 lists.

TOP PERFORMANCES – WOMEN:
- Pfaff led the charge for Duke's women with three top-three individual finishes, opening the weekend with a first-place performance in the women's 200-yard freestyle. The junior clocked the fastest time of her collegiate career (1:44.24) to win the event and move up to No. 2 all-time in Duke history.
- The Lexington, Virginia, product also delivered an incredible performance in the women's 100-yard backstroke en route to cementing herself atop the Duke charts. Behind a personal best of 51.06, Pfaff unseated the four-year-old program record while finishing runner-up. She capped her weekend with a third-place result in the 200 back via a time of 1:51.99.
- Gridley picked up a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, producing a time of 2:05.25 – No. 2 nationally (as of 11/22/25) – to win by nearly two seconds. The senior added a second-place finish in the 100 breast, touching in 58.47.
- The Blue Devil women also took second in Friday's 400-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Pfaff, Gridley, rookie Heather White and senior Tatum Wall powered to a 3:30.58 mark – the fastest of the season.
- Wall and classmate Martina Peroni notched the final top-three showings on the women's side with third-place finishes in their respective events. Peroni competed in the 200-yard butterfly and logged 1:57.95 while Wall came in at 47.98 in the 100 free.
- White moved into a tie with Kyanh Truong for No. 3 all-time in the 100 free via a personal best of 48.56, while senior Madeline Meredith etched her name into the program record books with a collegiate best of 53.42 in the 100 back – No. 10 all-time at Duke.
TOP PERFORMANCES – MEN:
- The Blue Devil men had a weekend for the history books, logging 13 all-time top-10 Duke times. Six individuals combined for 12 of the 13 marks, with all seven Duke swimmers registering personal bests.
- Freshman Andrew Kulp turned in a stellar performance in the men's 500 free to slot himself No. 1 in Duke lore, touching in 4:21.29 to shatter the previous record set in 2021. The freshman also posted a time of 1:36.00 in the 200 free – good for No. 6 all-time in Duke history.
- Junior Kalen Anbar moved into No. 3 all-time on the program charts in the 200 breast and No. 5 all-time in the 100 breast, clocking 52.83 and 1:55.17, respectively. Competing alongside Anbar, classmate Jack Smith set marks that ranked No. 6 all-time in the 100 breast (52.95) and No. 9 in the 200 breast (1:57.11).
- Rookie Anderson Kopp clocked 4:23.36 in the 500 free to jump up to No. 3 all-time in Blue Devil history. He also swam in the 400-yard individual medley and moved up to No. 6 all-time after posting a time of 3:51.90.
- Freshman Raphael Wang registered formidable showings in a pair of events to move into the top six all-time on those respective Duke lists. Wang was timed at 1:46.24 to move to No. 5 in the 200 IM and slotted himself No. 6 all-time in the 200 breast (1:56.45)
- Freshman Cade Anderson and graduate student Justin Wong continued the breakout performances for the Duke men.
- Anderson's 400 IM mark (3:48.72) was good for No. 2 in program lore, while his time in the 200 back (1:43.59) cemented himself No. 3 all-time in the event.
- Wong rounded out the group, moving up to No. 9 in the 100 fly after touching in 47.05.
UP NEXT:
Duke returns to the pool Jan. 17 for a dual meet against Georgia Tech. Diving gets going at 10 a.m., with swimming events to follow starting at 11 a.m. The Blue Devils will also recognize and honor the senior class for their accomplishments and contributions to the program.
