DURHAM, N.C. – Junior pitcher
Cassidy Curd continues to collect the weekly honors as she was tabbed the ACC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
She also earned two national honors as she was named the pitcher of the week by
D1Softball and
SoftballAmerica on Tuesday.
Curd led the Blue Devils' pitching staff with two wins and a pair of saves on the week after tossing 18.0 scoreless innings and collecting 17 strikeouts in her four appearances. The lefty was stellar against No. 16 Nebraska in the opening game of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, tossing 8.0 scoreless innings while surrendering just five hits. The Port St. Lucie, Fla., native fanned nine during the contest to push her past the 350-career strikeout milestone.
The junior made her second and third appearances of the week during Saturday's doubleheader against BYU and Minnesota. She was credited with saves in both games for her combined 3.0 innings of relief.
Curd tossed a complete game shutout on Sunday to help guide Duke past No. 4 UCLA, 1-0, and close out action in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. She limited the Bruins to just three hits in 7.0 innings of work while striking out five.
She now owns a 1.71 ERA and improved her season ledger to 5-1 after 10 appearances in the circle.
The eighth-ranked Blue Devils open a five-game homestand against Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Duke Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
