BRIGHTON, MASS. – No. 17 Duke used runs in six of seven innings to defeat Boston College, 12-2, in the conference series opener Friday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village.

Tyrina Jones set the single-season RBI record with her four during the contest, passing Claire Davidon's mark of 67 in 2024. The Lake Worth, Florida, native also matched
Ana Gold's single-season home run record with her three-run blast in the top of the third. She has now homered in five straight games.
The Blue Devils improve to 33-12 on the year with a 16-3 mark in ACC play while the Eagles drop to 12-30 overall and 3-13 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Devils struck in the opening frame as senior Aminah Vega doubled down the left field line and came home on a Boston College fielding error to put Duke ahead, 1-0.
- Senior KK Mathis dropped a base hit into shallow center field before moving up on a ground out and sacrifice bunt. Classmate D'Auna Jennings reached on a fielder's choice to score Mathis and push the Blue Devils ahead, 2-0.
- Jones extended the lead to 5-0 in the following frame with a three-run shot to center field. Her long ball also brought in Vega and redshirt junior Jessica Oakland after reaching on a leadoff walk and a base hit to left, respectively.
- Back-to-back doubles from Vega and Oakland added another Blue Devil run in the top of the fourth, creating a 6-0 gap.
- A solo home run from sophomore Layla Lamar and a two-run blast from freshman Gabriella Shadek stretched Duke's advantage to 9-0 in the sixth.
- Boston College pushed a pair of runs across the plate in the home half to avoid the shutout.
- The Blue Devils answered with another three-run frame, highlighted by Lamar's second home run of the night, to put the game out of reach, 12-2.
NOTES
- Vega extended her hitting streak to a team-high 17 games with her double in the opening frame.
- Vega recorded her 20th double of the season, matching Davidson's single season mark set in 2024.
- Lamar tallied the fourth multi-home run game of her career.
- Duke outhit Boston College, 15-3, marking its 23rd game with double-digit hits this season. Â

- Due to projected inclement weather, the Blue Devils and Eagles will conclude the three-game series on Saturday. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m.
