DURHAM, N.C. – Along with the 12 returning letterwinners from last season, the Duke softball program also welcomed 10 newcomers in six freshman and four transfers. During the fall, GoDuke.com will be spotlighting each of the 10 newcomers ahead of the 2026 campaign.
The final Blue Devil spotlight is freshman outfielder
London Collins. A Round Rock, Texas native, Collins was a four-year letterwinner at Cedar Ridge High School. In 2025, she helped her team to a 25-6 overall record, including a perfect 16-0 ledger to finish first in the 6A Region IV District and garner First Team All-District honors. Collins was also named the 2024 Cedar Ridge Varsity Softball Newcomer of the Year and holds the single season stolen base record (38). Collins also played travel ball with the Texas Glory. Off the field, she was a two-time Academic All-District selection and a member of the French Honor Society.
GoDuke.com: What are you most excited for this season?
London Collins: The thing that I'm most excited for this season is having the opportunity to compete for a national championship.
GD: What do you like most about Duke so far?
LC: The thing that I like the most about being a newcomer is getting the chance to achieve excellence both on and off the field. That was really important to me during my recruiting process and it's something that will stick with me even after these four years are over.
GD: What do you like most about Duke so far?
LC: My favorite part is definitely the culture. Everyone here, even outside of softball, has been so welcoming and helpful. I've never been in a place where so many people want to see everyone do good in life.
GD: What makes Duke different from where you grew up?
LC: One thing that makes Duke different from where I grew up is definitely the weather and the change of seasons. It's been nice to feel all four seasons instead of really just having one.
GD: What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of softball?
LC: A hobby that I just picked up is painting my nails. It's something that I found I really enjoy, especially being able to change it up whenever I get bored and try new techniques and styles.
