DURHAM, N.C. – Senior
Aminah Vega and redshirt junior
Jessica Oakland earned their third All-America recognition of the season as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) unveiled its All-America teams Wednesday evening. Vega earned a first team nod while Oakland brought home second team recognition.
Vega became the first Blue Devil in program history to garner NFCA All-America distinction twice. Oakland earned the second honor of her career after being tabbed to the second team in 2024 while at Minnesota. The duo also picked up All-America status from D1Softball and SoftballAmerica.
Vega, a unanimous first team pick, was the engine behind one of the nation's top offenses as she led the Blue Devils in batting average (.462), runs (87), doubles (21), triples (5) and total bases (174). The DeBary, Florida, native rewrote the Duke record books in her final season. She set the career doubles record with 67 and established the single-season doubles mark with 21, passing Claire Davidson's mark of 20, set in 2024. Vega, Duke's starting second baseman in all 60 games this spring, sits second in Duke history with 301 career hits and became the program's career home run leader during the NCAA Super Regional at Arkansas with her 55th career long ball to pass
Ana Gold's 54. Vega is the only player in program history to garner NFCA All-Region and All-ACC First Team honors in four consecutive seasons.
After missing the opening weekend due to injury, Oakland started all 55 games at shortstop. The San Jose, California, product is one of three Blue Devils who hit above .400 during the season, closing the year with a .443 batting average to go along with a career-high 78 hits, 11 doubles and 15 home runs. She sat second on the team with 70 RBI. Oakland was named the NFCA National Player of the Week April 21, following an explosive performance in one of the final weeks of the regular season. The redshirt junior was also selected to the ACC All-Tournament team after batting 5-for-8 (.625) with four RBI during the two games. She recently earned the third NFCA All-Region recognition of her career and first with the Blue Devils after playing her first two seasons at Minnesota.
The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division I, the committee is composed of one elected member head coach from each of the NFCA's 10 regions. All student-athletes who were nominated by their member head coach and voted to the first, second or third-team All-Region teams were eligible for All-America consideration.
