DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team continues ACC play on the road for the second straight weekend, traveling to Syracuse Oct. 17 for a 6 p.m., matchup before facing Boston College Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. Both contests will stream on ACC Network Extra.
Last Time OutÂ
The Blue Devils collected a 1-1 ledger last weekend, falling to Georgia Tech (1-3) but responding with their first sweep of the season over Clemson (3-0).Â
After dropping the first two sets to the Yellow Jackets, the Blue Devils battled back to take the third, before ultimately falling, 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16), inside O'Keefe Gymnasium. Freshman Ashby Zubchevich paced Duke with 17 kills, while sophomore Taylor Williams added 10. Freshman Charlotte Glass led the team with 17 assists and redshirt senior Ngozi Iloh anchored the defense at the net with four blocks.
Duke rebounded Sunday with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-22) victory against the Tigers. Williams recorded her third double-double of the season, notching 11 kills and 10 digs, while Iloh added 10 kills and led the match with six blocks. Sophomore Mailinh Godschall steadied the back row, collecting a team-high 19 digs.
Offensive ThreatsÂ
Zubchevich and Williams continue to power the Duke offense, combining for nearly 400 kills this season. Zubchevich leads the team with 194, while Williams follows closely with 191.
Zubchevich has been a force on the attack, posting double-digit kills in nine matches this year, including six of the last eight. She delivered a breakout performance during opening conference weekend, totaling 42 kills across matches against NC State and Wake Forest. She tallied a career-best 21 kills versus the Wolfpack on a .311 clip, then matched that total against the Demon Deacons while hitting a career-high .342. Most recently, she notched 17 kills at Georgia Tech, while also adding eight digs and an ace.
Williams owns a .202 attack percentage and has logged double-digit kills in 11 matches this season. She opened the year by posting a career-high 18 kills to help fuel a 3-1 victory over Bryant. Last weekend, she totaled 21 kills combined across the two matches, including 10 kills and nine digs against Georgia Tech, and followed that performance securing her third double-double of the season, garnering 11 kills and 10 digs against Clemson.
Defensive EffortsÂ
Godschall anchors the Blue Devil defense with a team and conference-best 289 digs. She has posted 20 or more digs in six matches this season (Bryant, Houston, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Appalachian State and Wake Forest) and came just shy of that mark last time out with 19 at Clemson.
At the net, Iloh owns a team-best 60 total blocks, including six solo denials. She has recorded five or more blocks in five matches this season, including a career-high eight in Duke's second meeting with North Carolina. Over the weekend, Iloh combined for 10 total blocks, tallying four against Georgia Tech and six versus Clemson.
A Closer Look at the Series Versus SyracuseÂ
Duke leads the all-time series against Syracuse, 9-7. The conference all-time series is tied at 7-7, while the Blue Devils hold a 6-3 advantage when facing the Orange inside the Women's Building. Duke has earned victories in the two most recent matchups. The series dates back to the 1991 season, when Duke captured a 3-1 win inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
A Closer Look at the Series Versus Boston CollegeÂ
Duke holds a 25-5 advantage over Boston College in the all-time series, including a 25-5 mark in conference matchups. The Blue Devils own a 10-4 record over the Eagles when playing inside Margot Connell Recreation Center. Last season, Duke secured a 3-2 victory inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. The series dates back to the 2005 season, when the Blue Devils earned a 3-1 win in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Duke returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium to host No. 4 Louisville Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m., before welcoming Notre Dame Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. Both matches will stream on ACC Network Extra.
