DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's soccer (3-2-1, 1-1-0 ACC) dropped its first ACC match on Friday, falling to No. 11 North Carolina (4-0-2, 1-0-0 ACC), 2-1, in front of a sold-out crowd at Koskinen Stadium.
The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the 12th minute, as
Adam Luckhurst received a service from
Trevor Burns and
Colton Pleasants, beating the Tar Heels keeper 1-0. Late in the first half, North Carolina equalized the match, as Lucas Ross fought through a scrum in front of the net to level the match a one aside before half.
Duke created multiple chances in the second half, before having to play the final 12 minutes and change a man down. Burns was originally whistled for a yellow card before a video review overturned the call and sent Burns off the pitch.
North Carolina would find the eventual game-winner just before Burns was sent off, as the Tar Heels' leading goal scorer, Martin Vician, beat
