PALO ALTO, Calif. – In front of a record-setting crowd of 2,268, Duke men's soccer (3-2-2, 1-1-1 ACC) secured a point in Palo Alto, California, drawing No. 1 Stanford (7-1-1, 2-0-1 ACC), 2-2.

Ulfur Bjornsson who one-timed a pass into the back of the net, 1-0. Freshman
Julius Suber began the attack, receiving a ball with space and taking it down the left side of the pitch.
Minutes after the second half began, Duke increased its lead in the 55th minute, as
Adam Luckhurst deposited his fifth goal of the campaign, heading a deflected ball into the left side netting, 2-0. Stanford would storm back in the final 15 minutes of action, scoring two goals to preserve their unbeaten ACC record and earn a result in the first ACC action on campus for the Cardinal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Within the first four minutes of action, Stanford tallied the first shot of the match, producing a corner but sending the header chance out of play.
- Minutes later, Nikolai Bull Jorgensen registered the first dangerous chance of the match, rifling a bouncing ball on the net, but was denied by Rowan Schnebly.
- In the 44th minute of action, Duke found a seam down the left side of the pitch to secure the first goal of the evening. Freshman Julius Suber drove to the wide side of the field before crossing the ball through the front of goal, finding Ulfur Bjornsson who one-timed the pass into the back of the net, 1-0.
- At the half, Duke led the shots on goal 2-1 but trailed in the overall shot totals 3-2. The Cardinal also led in fouls (9-6) and corners (6-1).
- Right after halftime, Adam Luckhurst doubled the Blue Devils lead in the 55th minute, heading a ball into the left side netting, 2-0.
- Stanford nearly cut the lead in half in the 67th minute, as Shane de Flores hit both the left post and crossbar.
- In the 75th minute, Fletcher Bank cut the Duke lead in half, finding the bottom left corner, 2-1.
- Stanford tied the match in the 88th minute, as Zach Bohane found the bottom right corner of the net, 2-2.
NOTES
- Sophomore Ulfur Bjornsson tallied his seventh goal of the season on Sunday, scoring just before the half to give Duke a 1-0 halftime lead. Bjornsson has now produced 15 points on the season (7 goals, 1 assist).
- Graduate Adam Luckhurst also found his name on the scoresheet in California, notching his fifth goal of the season. He has now produced 10 points in 2024, all via goals.
- With an assist on Bjornsson's goal in the first half, freshman Julius Suber collected his second collegiate point and first in league play.
- Stanford led the shot totals 12-8, with both sides registering five shots on goal in Sunday's draw.
- Graduate Wessel Speel made three saves against Stanford, one off his season-high of four, which came in the season opener against San Diego. Speel has now tallied 10 saves on the season and has faced 49 shots.
