MEET INFORMATION
WHAT TO KNOW / HOW THEY QUALIFIED
- Amina Maatoug looks to pick up the third indoor track USTFCCCA All-America accolade of her career after earning a pair of honors in 2023 in the mile (first team) and 3,000m (second team).
- Maatoug punched her ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championships at the beginning of the indoor season as she clocked a PR of 8:46.89 at the BU Season Opener – the fourth fastest time nationally and good for No. 1 all-time in Duke lore. The junior from Leiden, Netherlands has garnered All-America status in each season she has competed.
- MaKayla Mason and Brianna Smith are both set to make their NCAA debuts this weekend.
- Smith secured her spot at the national meet via her performance in the pentathlon at the ACC Indoor Championships last week, turning in a season-best 4,132 points en route to a third-place finish.
- The senior's best performance came in the pentathlon high jump as she took first behind a season's best leap of 1.79m (5-10.50 feet). She also produced strong showings in the pentathlon 60m hurdles (8.74) and shot put (12.35m (40-6.25 feet)), finishing third in both events via season and personal-best performances, respectively.
- Behind a stellar performance at the Tiger Paw Invitational in February, Mason garnered her spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
- On her second attempt of the competition, Mason registered a monster throw of 17.38m (57-0.25 feet) – good for third among the field. The Lee's Summit, Mo., product's throw decimated the 12-year-old school record by nearly two feet and bested her previous best by two meters.
