ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Duke trailed 10-3 with nine minutes left in the third quarter and scored six consecutive goals but its late rally fell short as the 24th-ranked Blue Devils fell at 25th-ranked Navy, 10-9, Friday evening in the 2024 season opener.
The Blue Devils were led by Katie DeSimone with three goals while Carly Bernstein added a goal and two assists. Olivia Carner added two goals to the offense.
Graduate student goalie Courtney Kaufman started in the cage and registered 15 saves, just one off her career high. Defensively, Madison Beale led the charge with three caused turnovers and two ground balls while Katie Keller grabbed three ground balls.
