QUICK HITS
- Duke baseball begins the 2024 season 7-0 for the first time since 2008, after completing the sweep of Northwestern on Sunday at Jack Coombs Field. The 2008 squad won its first 10 games before falling to No. 2 North Carolina in the middle contest of a three-game series.
- Senior catcher Alex Stone climbed into seventh all-time on the career home run list for Duke, hitting his 30th in a Blue Devils' uniform on Sunday. The home run moved him ahead of Mike King (1993-96) who hit 29 during his time in Durham, and Stone now trails Griffin Conine (2016-18) by one home run. The career home run record was set by Nate Freiman (2006-09) who crushed 43 home runs in a Duke uniform.
- The name of the game is scoring first and scoring in bunches for the Blue Devils. Since 2016, Duke has compiled a 177-57 (.756) record when scoring first and a staggering 189-40 (.825) record when scoring three or more runs in an inning.
- Four Duke players have active hitting streaks of four games or more heading into the new week of play. Graduate transfer Ben Miller and junior transfer Wallace Clark lead the way with seven game hitting streaks, while junior Devin Obee and AJ Gracia round up the back end with four game hitting streaks.
- Duke is currently ranked third in the country and second in the ACC in home runs hit this season, trailing Georgia (22) and Miami (21). The Blue Devils added four more home runs over the weekend at Jack Coombs Field, pushing their season total to 20.
- Senior left-handed pitcher Josh Allen returned to the diamond for the first time in 646 days on Sunday. Allen was thrusted into a bases loaded jam, limiting the Northwestern damage, before Duke was able to score 20-unanswered runs to complete the sweep of the Wildcats.
