DURHAM, N.C. – Duke's swimming and diving team will be back in action at the Taishoff Aquatics Center on Friday and Saturday, hosting Northwestern for a two-day meet. The diving events begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday, with the swimming events beginning at 5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.
The meet will be broadcast on ACCNX, with only Saturday being available to watch. General parking for the meet will be located in the Blue Zone off Duke University Road starting at 2 p.m., while Accessible Parking with a state-issued placard or plate will be located in the Card Lot at 320 Towerview Road.
NOTABLES
- Duke returns to the pool on Friday for the first time in two weeks after falling to South Carolina last time out.
- To open the meet against South Carolina, Duke's A-relay in the 200 Medley Relay secured a first-place finish, touching with a time of 1:36.60. The team consisted of Ali Pfaff, Kaelyn Gridley, Aleyna Ozkan, and Tatum Wall.
- In the men's one-meter diving event, Yannis Schattman posted a first-place score, tallying a total of 342.45 in the event. The Blue Devils went on to sweep the event, as Charles Berman (322.13) and Tynan O'Donoghue (308.03) finished in second and third.
- Pfaff continued her dominance in the Backstroke event, winning the 100 backstroke (51.66) and the 200 Backstroke (1:53.69). In the 100 Backstroke Molly Donlan and Clare Logan both joined Pfaff on the podium, while the 200 Backstroke saw Donlan touch in third.
- Martina Peroni opened the 200 IM for the women with a first-place finish and a time of 1:48.00. She was joined on the podium by Kyra Sommerstad who tallied a third-place finish and touched with a time of 2:01.31.
- On the men's side of the 200 Butterfly, Yugo Tsukikawa collected a first-place finish, touching with a time of 1:48.28. He was joined on the podium by Samir Elkassem who touched in second with a time of 1:49.08.
- This weekend marks the final home meet in the 2024 calendar year, as Duke will head to a handful of invitationals before the calendar flips to 2025. The Blue Devils will return home to Taishoff Aquatics Center on January 31 and February 1 to host Tennessee for senior weekend.
