DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke rowing team continued its fall racing schedule on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Princeton, N.J., for the 2024 Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie.
The Blue Devils raced three Varsity Eight boats, placing two in the top 25, in the Women's Open 8+ as a part of field consisting of 65 entrants from 17 different teams.
Alongside Duke were crews from Bucknell, Clemson, Dartmouth, Drexel, Embry-Riddle, George Washington, Mercyhurst, Princeton, Havard-Radcliffe, Rutgers, Temple, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Penn, Rhode Island and Virginia.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Varsity Eight boat led the time trials for the Blue Devils, clocking a time of 14:28.380 to earn a 12th place finish.
- The V8 crew of coxswain Audrey Kline, Chloe Zollman, Elizabeth May, Lena Mills, Florine Lijesen, Noelle Fuchs, Samantha Schalk, Vivienne Foley and Justine Medveckus proved their strength, narrowly edging top crews from Princeton and Harvard.
- The Second Varsity Eight also secured a spot in the top 25, racing their way to a time of 14:46.977, good for 24th overall.
- Rounding out the competition, Duke's Third Varsity Eight recorded a time of 14:53.903 to finish 28th and close out the day.
