Duke Rowing Concludes Fall Schedule at Rivanna Romp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Duke rowing closed out the 2024 fall slate at the annual Rivanna Romp Head Race in Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday. The Blue Devils raced nine boats along the 4,000-meter course on the Rivanna Reservoir and competed against crews from Minnesota, North Carolina and host Virginia.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Duke opened the day with the Varsity Eight event, racing four boats against a field of 16 entrants from four schools.
The First Varsity Eight boat was first to cross the finish line for the Blue Devils, placing third overall with a time of 13:43.5. The Second Varsity Eight boat followed closely behind, finishing seventh overall and clocking a time of 14:07.0.
The Third Varsity Eight rounded out the top-10 after narrowly edging North Carolina's D boat for ninth place, clocking a final time of 14:15.6, just .01 seconds ahead of the Tar Heels.
In the Varsity Fours race, Duke again finished with three boats in the top-10. The A boat placed fifth overall, while the B and D boats finished back-to-back for sixth and seventh place.
