DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke wrestling team fell to Appalachian State, 44-0, in its home opener in Card Gym on Monday evening. Freshman Christian Colman and sophomore Nick Tattini both wrestled in exhibition matchups in tonight's contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Graduate student Jarred Papcsy battled hard against No. 26 Cody Bond, but fell just short in a decision, 6-3.
Papcsy was quick to action recording a takedown in the first period, however Bond fought back in the third period recording an escape and takedown to come away with the victory.
In Coleman's exhibition match, he faced Isaac Byers. Coleman took an early lead, 7-0 with a takedown and a four-point nearfall.
Byers eventually closed the gap and came away with the match, 14-10, with four takedowns combined in the second and third periods.

UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will continue dual match action on Tuesday, Jan. 16 with a road trip to Boiling Springs to face Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m., in Paul Porter Arena.
