- Duke will look to rebound in its contest with Gardner-Webb, after falling to Appalachian State on Monday, Jan. 8.
- Graduate student Jarred Papcsy battled against No. 26 Cody Bond of App State, but fell just short in a decision, 6-3.
- Freshman Christian Colman and sophomore Nick Tattini both wrestled hard in their exhibition matches against Appalachian State.
- In Coleman's exhibition contest, he took an early lead, 7-0, with a takedown and a four-point nearfall. ASU's Issac Byers eventually closed the gap and came away with the match, 14-10.
- Prior to the dual match against Appalachian State, Duke participated in the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn. Connor Barket recorded his second podium finish this season, placing eighth at the tournament.
- Raymond Adams (2-2), Logan Ferrero (2-2), Kwasi Bonsu (2-2), and Connor Barket (3-3) finished with even records to end the Southern Scuffle.
- The Blue Devils collected 18.5 points throughout the event, tying with three teams for 14th-place in the team standings.
- Freshman Kwasi Bonsu added two more victories to his win column, coming away with a big win over fifth-seeded David Harper of Chattanooga, 7-3, in the consolation round of 16 at the Southern Scuffle.
- Graduate student Jarred Papcsy and sophomores Connor Barket and Gaetano Console will serve as the team's captains for the 2023-24 campaign. The trio of Blue Devils were selected to serve as captains for the first time in their careers.
