CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior
Ana Gold blasted a grand slam to lead Duke past Charlotte, 13-2, in the fall ball season opener. Gold finished the day batting 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Francesca Frelick, redshirt-sophomore
Jada Baker and sophomore
Aminah Vega also tallied long balls against the 49ers. Frelick went 2-for-5 on the day, while Baker and Vega finished 2-for-4 and 3-for-4, respectively, with two RBI each.
Graduate student
Dani Drogemuller made her Blue Devil debut, throwing five scoreless innings with one strikeout. Sophomore
Cassidy Curd tossed three innings and punched out three. Senior
Lillie Walker also saw action in the circle to round out the Blue Devils' pitching staff.
The 49ers drove in two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to avoid the shutout.
