Jess Jecko was inducted into the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend. Jecko, a native of Clinton, N.Y., is the first field hockey player to garner the honor from the organization.
The induction ceremony was held Sunday, Sept. 17 in downtown Utica. Jecko was inducted alongside CAA basketball official D.J. Carstensen, Major League Baseball player Archi Cianfrocco, NASCAR Hall of Famer Jerry Cook and the 1983 New York-Penn League champion Utica Blue Sox.

In the title game, Jecko made five saves as the Orange avenged its loss to North Carolina earlier in the season to take home the trophy.
A three-year starter in goal, Jecko played in 68 career games and finished her career with a 1.31 goals against average a 1.31 goals-against average in 68 games. She ranks eighth in Syracuse history with 217 saves, while her 1.31 goals against average is sixth all-time for an Orange goaltender.Β
Jecko also spent time with the U.S. National Team, earning Player of the Match honors against Australia in 2019 and Queen of the Match recognition versus Korea at the Four Nations Women's Ibaraki International Tournament in 2018.
The 2016Β Syracuse graduate served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Blue Devils for the 2020-21 season before spending one year as an assistant at Dartmouth in 2021. Jecko rejoined Duke's staff in May of 2022.
The Blue Devils were ranked ninth nationally last week before beating No. 6 Syracuse and Old Dominion. Duke is 6-1 and 1-0 in the ACC and travels to Boston College and Harvard this weekend.
