DURHAM – The 2023 cross country season gets underway for Duke this weekend as the Blue Devils are set to compete under the lights at the Elon Opener Friday evening (Sept. 1) at the Elon Cross Country Course.
MEET INFORMATION
The women's 4K is set to begin at 8:15 p.m., followed by the men's 6K at 8:45 p.m.
Along with Duke, the competition field includes Elon, Averett, Barton, Campbell, ECU, Fayetteville State, High Point, Meredith, N.C. A&T, NC State, Rockingham CC, Shaw, UNC Pembroke, UNCW, USC Aiken and Winthrop
The Blue Devils look to continue their immense success at the Elon Opener. At the 2022 rendition of the event, the Duke women notched a runner-up finish with two runners in the top-five while the men's squad placed first to pick up its third straight Elon Opener win behind four-top five placements.
Head coach Angela Reckart enters her third season leading the cross country program.
Duke returns 24 letterwinners from its 2022 squad that posted one meet win and 10 top-10 finishes.
