COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Blue Devil women turned in a strong performance in the women's 6K Gold Invitational to headline a lively morning of racing for Duke cross country Friday at the Gans Creek Classic.

Stephanie Moss and freshman
Victoria Garces spearheaded the charge as each individual finished among the top 50 of the women's field, while the team placed 11th out of the 31 field with 320 points.
TOP PERFORMANCES:
- Moss led the charge for the Duke women on the 6K course, turning in a time of 19:56.6 to place 25th overall. DaDamio was next Blue Devil to cross the finish line with a time of 20:08.7 and Garces clocked 20:17.6, catapulting 20 spots up the leaderboard over the final 1,000 meters to check in at 47th.
- Graduate classmates Jette Beermann and Poppy Craig-McFeely rounded out the top-five Duke finishers in the 6K Gold Invitational with times of 20:47.6 and 21:00.7, respectively.
- Sophomore Matt Ryan paced the efforts for the Duke men in the 8K Gold Invitational courtesy of a time of 23:50.3.
- Graduate student Will Purnell (23:57.1), sophomore Luke Thompson (24:05.1), senior Nick Falk (24:23.1) and graduate student Declan McDonnell rounded out the top performers for the Blue Devils. The Duke men finished 27th in the team standings with 684 points.
- Duke featured four student-athletes in the men's 8K Black race, captained by top-30 placements from graduate students Arthur Graham and Beck Wittstadt.
- Wittstadt climbed 17 spots across the final 1,000 meters en route to placing 17th (24:00.9), with Graham earning 28th after turning in a finish of 24:11.1. Rounding out the group was fellow graduate Alberto Campa and sophomore Dawson Reeves, who clocked 24:40.2 and 25:11.9, respectively.
- In the women's 6K Black, graduate student Katie Hamilton was the top Blue Devil finisher. Hamilton finished her race in 21:29.8, good for 30th. Junior Ella Johns (22:14.5) and graduate student Olivia Mason (22:19.7) were next in line, with junior Lindsay Hausman polishing off the quartet via a time of 22:58.2.

UP NEXT:
Duke heads to western North Carolina for the Fire Tower Project Run. The meet, hosted by Appalachian State at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm in Boone, is slated for Friday, Oct. 3. The Blue Devils will take the starting line at 5 p.m. for the men's 8K with the women's 6K set to follow at 5:40 p.m.
